BREAST REDUCTION

You may consider a breast reduction…

  • If you have breasts that are too large for your body size
  • If you experience medical problems including back, neck or shoulder pain due to heavy, sagging breasts

A breast reduction can make a dramatic change in your appearance and self-image. Many patients find a new enjoyment in how they look in their clothes and a renewed interest in exercise and physical activity.

Your Surgery

Breast reduction is performed in the surgicenter on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and usually takes from 2-4 hours. The procedure involves Dr. Bennett making an anchor-shaped incision around the dark area of the nipple extending downward and following the natural curve of the crease beneath the breast. He then removes excess glandular tissue, fat, and skin, and adjusts the nipple to its new position. The skin from each side is pulled down and around the areola, thereby reshaping the breast. Gauze dressings will be placed on your breasts and covered with an elastic bandage or surgical bra. Discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication.

Your Consultation

We invite you to schedule an appointment with one of Dr. Bennett’s Patient Coordinators to learn more about Breast Reduction. During the consultation all aspects of your proposed surgery will be discussed including preparation, relative risks, recovery, range of fees, and financing options. We gladly schedule from one to two hours for your consultation. We encourage you to ask questions and express your needs and concerns in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere.
